The Freddie Mercury biopic is back in business.
British actor Ben Whishaw has signed on to play the Queen frontman, replacing Sacha Baron Cohen, who left the project earlier this year over disagreements about how Mercury should be played.
Whishaw is best known for his role as Q in the 2012 James Bond film "Skyfall" and has also appeared in "The Tempest," "Brideshead Revisited," "Love Hate," "I'm Not There" and "Stoned," the 2005 flick in which he played the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards.
Whishaw recently finished "Days and Nights" and "Lilting," is currently filming "In the Heart of the Sea" and is slated to play Q again in a 2015 Bond film.
Meanwhile, Dexter Fletcher ("Sunshine on Leith," "Wild Bill") will be directing the Mercury film, which is being written by Peter Morgan ("The Queen," "Frost/Nixon").
Filming is expected to start around mid-2014.
