Just over four decades after their breakup, Creedence Clearwater Revival is gearing up to release a box set featuring their impressive “Fantasy” catalogue, among other treats.
Due out next month, the collection will include CCR’s seven studio albums, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory, Pendulum, and Mardi Gras, and nearly a disc and a half of live material, as well as rarities from the days of Tommy Fogerty & the Blue Velvets and the Golliwogs.
According to the official press release, the new set differs from CCR’s 2001 compilation release in its sleeker packaging, which highlights the band’s love of Kustom amplifiers, and also features rare photographs of John and Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford.
Additionally, comprehensive liner notes have been written by the likes of Ben Fong-Torres, Robert Christgau, Ed Ward, Joel Selvin, Craig Werner, Alec Palao and Dave Marsh, who use their knowledge as accredited rock journalists to lay out the unique history of CCR in a deluxe booklet in a way that’s never been done before.
Creedence Clearwater Revival: Boxed Set is due out on November 11 via Fantasy Records.
