Sir Paul McCartney has taken a second swing at his iconic holiday hit, “Wonderful Christmastime.”
The former Beatle collaborated with the a cappella group Straight No Chaser on the song, which is set to appear on their forthcoming EP, Under The Influence: Holiday Edition, set for release on October 29.
With McCartney singing lead surrounded by the harmonies and vocal effects of Straight No Chaser, the fresh take on “Wonderful Christmastime” is sure to get many into the holiday spirit, even though it’s still two months away!
In an interview Rolling Stone, SNC’s Don Nottingham called Sir Paul a “musical living legend,” and explained, “If you’d asked me five years ago – or even five months ago – what collaboration would be totally unfathomable for me, I would have said McCartney. To have him on a song with us is totally unbelievable and a true honor.”
Meanwhile, Paul McCartney continues to promote his latest studio album, New, which was released this week. The rocker played a surprise show in London today (October 18) after tweeting, “I’m getting ready to pop up in Covent Garden at 1pm today. Oh baby!”
The gig follows the impromptu lunchtime appearance that McCartney made in Times Square last week, where he played five songs from his new LP on a flatbed truck that had been worked into a makeshift stage.
