Top 5 Songs to Kick Off Summer

When summertime hits, nothing beats rolling down your windows and blasting your favorite tunes. To help you get in the spirit, here are our Top 5 songs to help you kick off the warm weather the right way!

1.   Summer of ‘69 – Bryan Adams

Listening to “Summer of 69’” by Bryan Adams, you can't help but think back the memories of your favorite summer.  From the 1984 album Reckless, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts, “Those were the best days of my life" help us remember those lazy carefree days of summer's past.

2.   Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles

The softness and ease that comes with listening to “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles is the perfect way to roll into the warmer weather.  It was written in 1969 by George Harrison for Abbey Road using Eric Clapton’s acoustic guitar.  Harrison wrote this song to reflect the relief of tension and the distance of troubles.

 3.   The Boys of Summer – Don Henley

Don Henley, one of the founding members of The Eagles, had a breakout solo career with the iconic hit “The Boys of Summer” in 1984.  Representing everything youthful and vibrant, “…brown skin shinin’ in the sun” is part of the tune to play by the pool with a drink in your hand.

4.   Summertime Blues – The Who

A rockin’ version of a ‘50s swing song by Eddie Cochran, “Summertime Blues” was performed by The Who at their live shows.  The song was first released on the 1970 concert album Live at Leeds.  It's a staple song of their early concert days of rockin’ out to the fullest, much like the feeling of summertime.

5.   Hot in the City – Billy Idol

Hot in the City, from Billy Idol’s self-titled debut album, is a tune that makes you want to put the top down on your car, or at the very least roll down all the windows.  This bumping 1982 track reminds us that in the summertime, things can really heat up, but in the best way possible!
