For three decades, the band Bon Jovi has “Runaway” with the hearts of fans worldwide. Many frontmen these days may have the looks to inspire a contingent of fangirls, but fewer can match the vocal talent of Jon Bon Jovi. The New Jersey rockstar turns 51 today, and while he continues to fire up any stage he steps onto, he has a few things outside of music that he’s begun to explore.
After the devastation Hurricane brought to his home state, Sandy Bon Jovi couldn’t stand idly by as his fellow New Jerseyans suffered. Joined by the rest of his Bon Jovi crew, Jon participated in the 12/12/12 Concert for Hurricane Sandy Relief which raised a whopping $50 million.
Even President Obama has taken notice of Bon Jovi’s extracurricular endeavors, appointing him to the White House Council for Community Solutions. In this important role, Bon Jovi has been providing affordable housing for low-income families through the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which he founded.
Also a well-known family man, Jon married his high school sweetheart Dorothea in 1989, and together, they have four children – Stephanie, Jesse, Romeo and Jacob.
Happy Birthday Jon!
