One of the most recognizable artists of our time, Yoko Ono, is set to ring in her 80th year with a one-off gig in Berlin on Sunday, February 17th, on the evening before her actual birthday. The event will include a live show with Plastic Ono Band, which will be led by her son, Sean Ono Lennon.
Beginning her career as an avant-garde artist, poet and performer in the early 60s in Greenwich Village, NY, Ono’s career has spanned over five decades. Between her infamous marriage to the late John Lennon, her many albums and art exhibits and her countless humanitarian efforts, Yoko Ono has truly secured a place in both popular culture and Rock and Roll history.
Over the past few years, Ono has achieved a record string of nine consecutive #1 hits on the Billboard dance charts. She has also produced two off-Broadway plays and started a risqué clothing line inspired by Lennon.
And 2013 will continue to be a big year for Yoko Ono, with one of her numerous projects including a reissue of her albums from 1968 through 1995.
