PETER ASHER: To Deliver Induction Speech At Rock Hall

Honoring Epstein and Oldham

Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon fame  says he's proud to have been asked to deliver the induction speeches for Brian Epstein and Andrew Oldham

at Thursday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions. Peter and Gordon were a British pop duo, comprising Peter Asher and Gordon Waller, who achieved international fame in 1964 with their first single, the million-selling transatlantic No.1 smash "A World Without Love" written by Lennon and McCartney. The singer-tuned-producer and talent manager says his greatest challenge might be working with a time limit, when detailing the honorees' careers.

Both men's accomplishments speak for themselves. Asher says Epstein "managed the most famous band in the world by far -- and a lot of other good bands." Ironically, Peter & Gordon weren't one of them. Almost all of Brian's clients came from his -- and The Beatles' -- home town of Liverpool. Though they never were professionally linked to Brian, they did -- very early -- work with Andrew.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions will be held Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. HBO will show an edited version of the event beginning in late May.
