I watch “The Bachelor”.

I wish I could say that Christy watches it and I passively look on from the couch. But I can’t. Don’t worry. I don’t let it get in the way of my “24” viewing. And I know that you must think less of me as a human. But I do watch it for the train wreck phenomenon. It’s one of those “it’s so bad – it’s good” television situations. This season features some of the worst female characters we’ve ever seen. We have Gia whose had more facial surgery than Kris Draper. Her face literally looks like it will start to melt in a heavy rain. We have Tenley who has been so emotionally devastated by her ex-husband that she figured the perfect cure was to go on a reality dating show with 24 other women. And we have Vienna who is barely ...

Lasik for JoePa

This looks REALLY weird. Legendary coach Joe Paterno got lasik surgery and no longer needs his patented glasses. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Light Crowd in Jersey...

14 inches of snow - and 4 wins out of 51 will tend to keep attendance down. But this is absurd. NOBODY went to the game last night in New Jersey.

This was shot at a bar in New Orleans as Tracy Porter clinched the Super Bowl with his pick-six against Peyton Manning. Awesome video. Totally captures the emotion of the moment. Maybe one day we'll get that in Detroit. Maybe...one....day....

Some things happen every single year.

You know every year that the Lions will whiff on a draft pick. You know that some yokel will break through some ice when he tries to ice fish in May. And you know each and every year that someone will write an obit for Jack Bauer and 24 because the show gets off to a rocky start.

I read my first one this morning courtesy of AOL. Here’s a link in case you’re interested in reading it. The writer makes some outstanding points. In short, she thinks that Jack has taken too much of a backseat in the plot. She has no interest in the female storylines (Renee, Dana/Jenny, Chloe). And she thinks that New York is being wasted. Nothing has happened (other than the use of the U.N.) to show that Jack is in the Big Apple. He could just as easily ...

SI Cover Controversy

There are some controversies that I understand. But there are some that are simply ridiculous. This is one of the latter.

Women's groups are complaining that Sports Illustrated is objectifying US skiier Lindsey Vonn with this pose on the cover. Last time I checked, this is the pose that most skiiers use to try to get down the hill as fast as possible.

Please - find another issue to complain about.
