Pop Quiz hotshot...
Who had a more embarrassing weekend?
A) The Lions - who lost to the winless Rams at HOME!
B) The poor twenty-something Halloweeners who had to do the walk of shame on Sunday morning dressed as Raggedy Ann or Little Bo Peep or a naughty nurse.
C) Me - who went winless on his picks for the second consecutive week.
If you said A or B, God Bless you. But honestly, I'd trade places with Raggedy Ann in a heartbeat to avoid the feeling I felt going into the Lions game at 0-3. You never, and I mean NEVER want to pin your hopes on the Leos.
I'd like to curl up into the fetal position and quit - much like Michigan did in the second half against Illinois. But I must press on. If for no other reason than to keep showing Doyle's record which is waaaaaay worse than mine.
Purdue (+ 6) at Michigan - Wow. Michigan is not a good team which pretty much answered our question from last week. But Purdue isn't either. The Boilers have lost eleven in a row on the road and lost to Wisky by 37 last week. The Big Ten Network tried desperately to avoid showing this game but are technically contractually obligated. Pick - Michigan
Doyle - Purdue
O'Brien - Michigan
Western Michigan (+20 1/2) at Michigan State - Last week, I praised the Gophers and their passing game but said that the loss of a key receiver would be the reason MSU would win. 5495 yards later - I was wrong. This week, Tim Hiller comes in for Western. Good quarterback. Good offense. But lacking key receivers due to injury. I'm not making the same mistake again. I say MSU wins, but doesn't cover. Pick - Western
Doyle - MSU
O'Brien - MSU
Lions (+10) at Seattle - All you have to know about the Lions is that the Seahawks are 2-5 and are ten point favorites over Detroit. Leos haven't won on the road in two years and haven't won out west in 2 1/2. And after pinning all my hopes on them last week, I'm not doing it again. Pick - Seahawks.
Upset of the Week...If I'm going to turn this thing around, I'm going to go big. I'm going to try to blow it up. I'm going to go down in total flames. Terrelle Pryor has become one of the most enigmatic players in college football and a favored whipping boy for the Buckeye faithful. And I don't totally trust him heading into Beaver Stadium. But this game is usually won by the best defense like last season at the Horseshoe. And Ohio State has the best defense in the Big 10. So the Buckeyes are my upset special.
Last Week - 0-4
Season Record - 4-7
Deminski - 3-2
Doyle - 0-5
O'Brien - 1-4
