Tom Izzo announced last night that he will not take the Cav’s job and will remain at MSU for life. Phew!
It is good to see a man of character stand up for what is right rather than chase the money. Spartan fans had flashbacks of Nick Saban. A coach who went with the big paycheck and abandoned a program that was starting to get on track. In this case coach Izzo had already established himself as one of the elite college coaches and I couldn’t blame him if he wanted to take on a new challenge. But after witnessing his style, prowess and success over the past 15 years, it would have been heartbreaking to see him go. The man is good at what he does. He is a motivator, an instructor of young men. Not a babysitter of ...

Nebraska Rocks

Nebraska joining the Big 10 would be cool…Nebraska featuring the E Street Band would be off the charts.
A full band version of Nebraska? I would love to hear this version… Nebraska was one of those albums that took awhile to grow on me.

From Pulse.com…

Max Weinberg confirmed that the long-rumored full E Street Band version of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 solo acoustic album Nebraska does exist. Weinberg revealed to Rolling Stone, "The E Street Band actually did record all of Nebraska and it was killing. It was all very hard-edged. As great as it was, it wasn't what Bruce wanted to release. There is a full band Nebraska album, all of those songs are in the can somewhere."
Weinberg also shed some light on Springsteen's long-promised Darkness On The Edge Of Town box set, saying, "I don't really exactly know what the stage of thinking is relating to that ...

Nobody's Perfect

So Wednesday night during the Tigers/Indians game pitcher Armando Galarraga missed out on a rare perfect game due to a bad call by umpire Jim Joyce. It sucks, it hurts, but I believe changing the decision would be wrong. Since instant replay isn’t currently being used, changing the decision would open up a can of worms involving countless questionable calls from the past across the league.
I’m not sure I’m ready to have the human element taken out of the game of baseball. You certainly couldn’t have instant replay on balls and strikes, that zone is interpretive. Some say it’s just progress, we need to go there to bring the game into modern times. I like replay in football… not sure it’s right for baseball.
Anyway, the manner in which both men handled this very unfortunate situation should be an example to all. Admit and be apologetic when your wrong…and ...

Stevie & Kwamee

What a pleasure it has been to watch Steve Yzerman grow up before our very eyes and become one of the best hockey has ever seen. Although it is sad to think of The Captain working for another organization, it makes sense. Steve Yzerman is a competitor who wants to take his game to the next level. The Red Wings management is so strong and successful that he had to go elsewhere to make his mark.
My hope is that one day after gaining some experience he will return to Hockey Town and lead us to another cup. Good Luck StevieY!

The other big story of the day was Kwamee going to jail. I have no sympathy for the former mayor, the facts are clear. He lied under oath, he was ordered to pay restitution. He asked for his restitution to be restructured, his finances were exposed. He didn’t comply ...

Buck in 3D

I had a busy and fun filled weekend. I spent some time on the golf course this weekend helping out my brother Knights of Columbus at their outing. I had volunteered to work rather than golf because I didn’t want to embarrass myself, but after seeing some aweful tee shots, I’m golfing next year.

I took my son Jon to see the new Shrek movie. It was my first experience with Imax 3D. WOW! My reaction was like man seeing fire for the first time. I was blown away. The movie itself was pretty good. It seemed to be more action oriented and less funny, probably because of the 3D thing.

Sunday, I worked outside all day til sunset doing yard work and building new pens for my goats and ducks. I don’t think I’d want to be a farmer…too much work. Just my few animals keep me busy and ...

Weekend At Buck's

I did an appearance at the Greater Detroit Auto Auction this past Saturday and WOW was that a learning experience. It was fast paced action like a horse race. I was impressed by the auctioneer and how fast he talked and incorporated all the info including giving WCSX a shout out. It was a bit intimidating at first as I watched the cars roll into the garage, a verbal flurry of information and hands being raised… then a bell rings…SOLD! And it starts all over again.
There are people on the floor to assist those less experienced like myself. But once you’ve observed a few rounds you get the hang of it. I saw just about every type of vehicle imaginable from boats and campers to sports cars and commercial trucks. Great condition to poor. I thought to myself…”THAT sold for HOW MUCH?”
Although I wasn’t there to buy, it ...

A Motown Classic

When I think of a perfect summer day, I think about Ernie Harwell. Michigan summer memories of days gone by, when I didn't have a care in the world. The sun shinning in a big blue sky, a slight cooling breeze as I sit in a lawn chair, holding a cold Strohs beer dripping from ice water, watching the world go by at a snails pace and listening to the soothing voice of Ernie Harwell on the radio...Golden!
In todays synical society, I can't imagine another man like Ernie coming around. Ernie Harwell was a living example of christian values. A genuine class act professionally and personally thru and thru. We could all benefit from being more like him.

Thank you and God Bless you, Ernie Harwell.

To my surprise our goats had babies...3 to be exact. Adorable little dudes...not sure I want 5...2 is a handful.
The dad is an escape artist...crafty, strong goat.

Because money is tight, we decided not to do chickens just yet, but promised my son Jon, he could have a couple ducks. Hello, Mr. & Mrs. Waddles.

Finally... wasn't planning on replacing our dog who recently passed, but fate is a funny thing. We met Kylie by chance at a booth that the local adopt a pet organization had set up while we were shopping. As soon as I saw her, I thought "it's my old dog reincarnated". The breed, coloring, disposition...all very similar. Must be karma. We found our old dog in very much the same way. I couldn't go home without her.

Enjoy the pictures.

It was good to see a lot of you guys at the premiere of “Clash of the Titans” on Friday. I wasn’t able to stick around for the movie itself so I’ll rely on your reviews. I noticed that everything is in 3D now. I wonder how long this fad will last…haven’t experienced it yet.

I put on the bunny costume for the egghunt at church again this year. I was smart and dressed light. Previous years I got so hot, I thought I’d pass out…horrifying the kids.
All went well.

Couldn’t help but to break my diet over Easter. We had a wonderful meal at Webers in Ann Arbor.

I saw a very cool T-shirt over the weekend. My friend had a shirt with a guitar on it…it was connected to a mini amp on his belt…strum the guitar…and Jam! Really Cool!...

Reality Check

“I don’t understand, why they don’t understand” is a phrase I heard recently and I thought it summed up some of the stuff that’s been going on lately.
Kwamee Kilpatrick and Monica Conyers were back in court this week and their actions just amaze me. Kwamee thinks the judge is being biased and acts as if he’s being persecuted. Monica after pleading guilty(rather quickly I might add) was kickin and screaming that she wasn’t going to jail for something she didn’t do. Huh?
Kwamee…dude…you were the mayor of a major city…you don’t know anything about your own finances? The receipts, your lifestyle…it’s perfectly clear to us.
Monica…I tell my kids, if you didn’t do something with 100% certainty, don’t admit to it no matter how hard you’re pressed. It’s that simple. And when you do admit guilt accept the punishment.
The sense of entitlement is a reality I can not ...
