NEED YOUR HELP FOR HIGHLAND PARK FIRE DEPT.

4/2/2013

Firefighters sleeping in makeshift shacks of two-by-fours and plywood and eating out of a portable trailer? It's happening in Highland Park. The good news? our friends at the Highland Park Fire Department (who handle about 1,000 runs a year) are getting a new station in September. We talked with Highland Park Fire Chief Derek Hillman on Monday about some of the items they stil need for the station (basically it's just an empty building). "I feel funy even about asking for us...we like to be there helping other people. We're not here to sit and complain about what we don't have." Thoughts and ideas? Subject: Donations Items

The following is just a preliminary list of some of the items that the department needs

1. Fire Engine $300,000 (their ladder truck has 20,000 hours on it - that's 1/2 million miles on a car)

2. New Fire Gear $2,500 to completely outfit a firefighter

3. Mattresses and Frames

4. Furniture for new station

5. Kitchen ware (Plates, bowls, cups, and silverware)

6. Office Furniture

7. Training room furniture (Tables and Chairs)

Again this is just a few items that off the top of head I can think about.

Thanks
Derek Hillman
